The Riesling "Große Eule" comes from a terraced section of the Enkircher Ellergrub vineyard that is strongly interspersed with rocks. The grapes come from 100 year old Riesling vines with real roots, which are cultivated there in classical single pile education close to nature and in elaborate manual work. Fermented with natural yeasts in used Tonneau barrels, this top Riesling was left on the fine yeast for 10 months. The nose is opulent and offers aromas of candied lemon, ginger, star fruit, anise and smoky slate. Bone dry and complex on the palate. Everything is of great clarity and depth. The long finish reveals a dense network of pome fruit, meadow herbs and balsamic notes. This is Mosel Riesling in classical style, powerful mineral - elegant and complex. One of the best dry Rieslings from the steep rock terraces between Enkirch and Traben-Trarbach.
