Riesling in Perfection

Already eight years later, his son Rudi Hermann took over the management of the estate and constantly extended the holdings in the best steep slope sites of Ürzig and Erden. Since 2000, Rudi Hermann has the support of his son Christian, who has helped catapult the small family estate to the top of the Mosel region. They have a total of about 9 ha spread out in the famous sites of Erdener Treppchen, Erdener Herzlei, Ürziger Würzgarten, and the highly esteemed Erdener Prälat. They also have ungrafted, 100-year-old Rieslings vines.

Their aim is to preserve the natural aromas from the vineyards in the wine and to produce expressive, individual, and vivid wines. A careful pruning, which means limiting yields, as well as the natural care of the vineyard soils and the selective hand-harvest all guarantee the development of multi-layered wines, which are characterized by a unique richness of aromas.

The wines produced here have an enormous range. The small property exports about 80 percent of the approximately 60,000 bottles of its high-quality Rieslings around the world. Dr. Hermann shines with its very clean, clear, and aromatically rich Rieslings of great complexity.
