von Othegraven
Kanzemer Altenberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs 2020
Fresh aromas of ripe stone fruit, more white than yellow, some peach, a little pear, juicy enough to drip from the chin. Floral nuances to offset the fruit. Then on the palate, all that ripeness ducks behind a heavy curtain leaving a bare stage: dry, sleek and astringent. White fruits blind the palate, zesty, and tense, with an elegant stony thread and a long, lingering saline finish. Time is needed here, and plenty of it to reveal the deep elegance that gives the Altenberg its name. Drink: 2023 - 2030. Pairing Suggestion: With a wine this structured and complex, there’s no reason to be shy. Try octopus carpaccio or Korean kimchi. Give a pour alongside fish steamed with herbs and savoy cabbage. Or be adventurous and try fish-stuffed cabbage leaves.

Saar Region
The Saar is the largest tributary of the Mosel. The winegrowing area extends from Serrig to the mouth of the Saar River at Konz, as the crow flies about twelve kilometers upstream. The acreage of the Saar region is rather small with about 750 hectares. Nevertheless, there are numerous excellent vineyards, some on steep slopes.
