Vollenweider
Wolfer Goldgrube Aurum Riesling trocken 2018
Aurum means the gold of the Goldgrube and stands for Daniel Vollenweider's masterpiece of craftsmanship every year. The Riesling Aurum is a selection of the oldest Riesling vines in the Wolfer Goldgrube. Since time immemorial, the gnarled vines have grown together with the grey slate of the Goldgrube and bring the true gold of the Goldgrube to shimmer anew every year. After a spontaneous fermentation, the Riesling Aurum lay on the yeast for a full two years. In a fast-moving age like today, that's actually unbelievable. That is craftsmanship, that is great skill. Someone knows exactly what they are doing. This is Kraftwerk Riesling. On the nose, the Riesling Aurum shows wonderful red-fruited depth, spicy and powerful, slate-scented and slightly yeasty. Dense and full on the palate, with a fascinating richness of facets. Powerful in body, with a strong backbone and fine proportions. Stony, tart minerality, almost extreme, but with fine fruit and beautiful smoky notes. Limited to 300 bottles!
