Goldgrube Riesling trocken 2019
The grapes for this dry Riesling from the Wolfer Goldgrube come from the ancient parcels of this grandiose vineyard. The exact planting year of the Riesling vines is not even known today, but they have been rooted to this site for well over a hundred years. The Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube was left on the lees for over a year after fermentation, which gives it its multi-layered and profound complexity. The nose is still somewhat restrained, almost discreet, but very clear with fine citrus fruit, a little apple and a fascinating scent of hazelnuts. Firm on the palate with great, almost infinite depth, stony and rough, acid-fresh and straightforward. Tastes of wet slate rock, seems cool and shows an herbal to smoky spiciness with a very attractive body. Powerful, multi-layered with a lot of draught, yet pleasantly moderate in alcohol. Still needs some time, but will then mature to overwhelming greatness. Perfect!
