Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg was the vineyard of the canons, who had the privilege to sit in the church choir and to choose the abbot of the monastery. The 19-ha Herrenberg is a southwest-facing slope and is the only vineyard on the Ruwer dominated by red slate. This unique soil type produces fragrant, aromatic, and supple Riesling wines with great sweet-acid interplay.
The finely fragrant Rieslings from Herrenberg also impress with their extraordinary ability to develop over time. The delicacy and beguiling sensuality of these wines has been confirmed for centuries.
