Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg
The 15-ha Abtsberg is Grünhaus’s ur-vineyard and is located in a side valley of the Ruwer. Archaeological finds suggest that vines have been cultivated on this impressive slope for more than 2,000 years.
The mainly south-facing vineyard that has an incline of up to 70 percent in the steepest highest section of the slope. The soil is mainly a blue (and gray) slate. The Riesling wines from Abtsberg have a fine structure, subtle minerality, polished acidity, and delicate spiciness. These are among the longest-lived wines in the Ruwer region.
