The Wehlener Sonnenuhr is certainly one of the best and most valuable vineyard sites in the world. The Spätlese from the winery Max Ferd. Richter comes from 120 years (!!!) old rootless vines, which were planted in classic Mosel single-pole training in the best sector of the original Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The grapes were harvested by hand at the end of October and then fermented spontaneously in old Mosel barrels. The nose is piquantly fruity, with aromas of white peach, apricot and ripe grapefruit. Lots of smoky slate and delicate floral hints in the base. Lots of juice on the palate with clear and beautiful fruit expression. The acidity seems racy and fresh and provides a fiery drinking flow despite the fruity sweetness. Sublimely shows the depth of the old vines and the spicy minerality of the blue slate soil! A majestic Spätlese that cannot deny its origins. Great wine!!!
