The grapes for the Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett off-dry still come from Riesling vines that were planted in the 1930s in the original sector of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The grapes were harvested by hand at the end of September at an honest 82° degrees Oechsel and then fermented spontaneously in the old Mosel Fuderfass traditionally. The nearly century-old vines give the Kabinett an exceptionally intense bouquet of bright flowers, lime zest, apricot, vineyard peach and wet slate. Cool and transparent on the palate with precise acid structure, yellow fruit and a nice tart touch. The fruity sweetness is rather restrained and comes across as lean and animating. The mineral flicker from the blue slate of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr unfolds elegantly and full of character to the seemingly endless finish. Clearly shows origin - This is Sonnenuhr one hundred percent!
