Dr. Wagner

Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Spätlese 2019

Spätlese fruity sweet Saar

The Spätlese from the Ockfener Bockstein already shows an intensive, mineral fruit in the bouquet with concentrated aromas of apricot, dates, overripe honeydew melon and pears. On the palate it is surprisingly straightforward and at the same time extremely multi-layered. A lot of juice with an intense mineral enamel and a piquant animating acidity. Fascinatingly complex and of great depth. In the taste almost exotic with intensive slate spice and a pinch of sea salt. In the finish extremely long with penetrating fruit aromas and mineral finish.

The Region

Saar Region

The Saar is the largest tributary of the Mosel. The winegrowing area extends from Serrig to the mouth of the Saar River at Konz, as the crow flies about twelve kilometers upstream. The acreage of the Saar region is rather small with about 750 hectares. Nevertheless, there are numerous excellent vineyards, some on steep slopes.
