Dr. Hermann
Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett Alte Reben 2021
Alte Reben here specifically means planting year "1944" - that is not just a number. Riesling from old vines give the winemaker only a few, small grapes, but these are more aromatic, more complex and much richer in extract than those from young vines. In the nose, the Kabinett Alte Reben shows a floral, balsamic-slate spicy fragrance and a beautiful juicy grapey freshness. Straightforward and nervy on the palate with radiant clarity and a haunting spicy slate note. Lots of red fruit, even some strawberry settles coolly on the tongue. The amazingly racy structure ideally buffers the residual sugar. Fine salt lime in the fruity finish provides a good pull and a super drinking flow. Really makes you feel good...
