The Erdener Herzlei, directly adjacent to the Erdener Prälat vineyard, is the monopollage of the Dr. Hermann winery. Already in the first official tax classification of vineyards from 1868, the Erdener Herzlei is listed as a top vineyard for the cultivation of Riesling. Thus, the Herzlei with its five steep slate terraces has always been one of the best vineyards in Erden and forms the core area of the historic Erdener Treppchen. The almost 130-year-old, rootless Riesling vines grow here on extremely poor blue slate soil. The Spätlese Goldkapsel from the Herzlei offers a beautiful floral nose reminiscent of the fresh scent of wild and meadow flowers. In addition to lots of ripe fruit, a seductive spicy-oriental scent lends a very special atmosphere. Refreshing on the palate, very clear and pure, with extreme juiciness of lush exotic fruit and light smoky accents. The elegant interplay of fruit and sweetness is spanned by a lively acidic arch. In the imposing golden finish, a delicate spiciness of candied ginger and some fleur de sel. Classic Spätlese of a great kind!
